Who we are and what we do

Welcome to Marshels

A team of over 30 highly skilled and experienced tradesmen

We’re extremely proud of our team of highly-skilled and experienced painters, decorators and refurbishment tradesmen, who have worked on a variety of projects across Surrey, Hampshire, and beyond. Our goal is to deliver a lasting impact, and to ensure that we meet your every need. We work around you, to your time scale, and guarantee excellent service, every time.

Marshels was founded in 1986 by Jamie & Mandy Elstow who have successfully run the company and built a team for over 32 years. Gary Pickering is one of three Directors at Marshels, and he brings his managerial expertise within the trade industry into the company, in addition to being a key part in the running and development of the business.

We’re a family-run business, and two of Jamie & Mandy’s sons are working within the company, striving towards developing the business and looking to build their own paths. We strive for high standards of work, and only take on tradespeople passionate about their work.

At Marshels, we’ve been home to a number of families over the years; from fathers and sons, to siblings working together. We promote strong relationships within the company work force, and regularly invest in apprenticeship schemes – and that’s why we work towards the promotion of the newer generation of workers, and the development of their skills.

Being part of the local community is essential to us, and to date we’ve been involved in numerous local projects, including the sponsoring of Farnham Carnival and Farnham Cricket Club.

Let's start a project together!

How do you find and choose a painter/decorator?

As with every other trade, the best way to choose a decorator is to follow the recommendation of another self builder. When it comes to choosing the perfect painter or decorator for you then it is all down to you. But always look for high ratings, high quality and great communications.

What makes a good painter and decorator?

First impressions are everything though, so look out for things like owning an official website with helpful information, honest customer reviews and a catalogue showcasing their work. General professionalism is essential when looking for a painter or decorator.

What are the best things about being a painter and decorator?

Painting and decorating can be a lot of fun. Whether it is a small paint job or decorating an entire house, any job can quickly look like an entire project. Creativity is the key part of the work we do, the more creativity involved the better! We also get to meet lovely people and form relationships with great companies.

How do deposits work in painting and decorating?

If a decorator asks for a deposit, they should first provide a detailed quote, outlining the amount of prep, the process, materials and the full list of works they intend to carry out. They should also provide their terms and conditions.
