Interior design often hinges on personal preferences and what suits your home best. That said, we are usually influenced by current trends in the spotlight, even if you have you do tend to lean towards a certain style or colour.
Here we’ll delve into what’s anticipated to rise in popularity for interior colour trends in 2024 and provide you with inspiration from some of our favourite and most popular paints from Farrow & Ball and Dulux.
Rich berry shades
If you’re a fan of bold colours within your living space, there is an upward trend in the use of berry reds as we head into the new year. These shades provide rooms with a sense of warmth and cosiness and are great if looking to make a statement in rooms such as living rooms and dining areas.
Embracing vibrant colours is expected to continue in popularity in 2024, and rich, deep berry shades have often been used to create a feature wall when looking to highlight a certain area of a room. These burgundy colours work really well when coupled with a neutral colour.
Two of our current favourites are Eating Room Red by Farrow and Ball and Redcurrant Glory by Dulux.
Earthy tones
Nature remains a key influence for neutral palettes, and we expect these tones to feature heavily in interior decorating during the upcoming year.
Rich neutrals have long been seen throughout living rooms, but these tones are now beginning to feature in kitchens and bathrooms too.
Subtle shades of green such as Overtly Olive by Dulux have become more popular in recent times, whereas Farrow & Ball’s Stirabout is a more timeless, earthy tone that we expect to be popular in 2024.
Peaches and dusty pinks
‘Peach Fuzz’ was named Pantone Colour of the Year 2024, so it’ll be of no surprise that shades of peach feature on our list of 2024 colour trends to look out for. The warmth and radiance that peach tones provide are brilliant if you’re looking to brighten up a room, especially if natural light is limited.
Voted Dulux Colour of the Year 2024, Sweet Embrace offers a neutral shade with a subtle dusty pink undertone and will no doubt be flying off the shelves next year along with other dusty pink shades that have become sought-after recently.
Bold blues and shades of teal
Selvedge is a lovely shade of blue that Farrow & Ball describe as being particularly good in low-light spaces to create a friendly atmosphere and is complemented nicely with accents of darker shades. Selvedge and other similar colours are sure to be popular over the next 12 months.
Teals are here to stay, with no sign of letting up since their huge rise in popularity in the last few years. A favourite of ours is Teal Tension by Dulux, which we anticipate using a lot in 2024.
Go bold with green colour drenching
Colour drenching is a painting trend that involves painting everything in the same shade. This is often means painting walls and things such as coving, skirting boards, and other woodwork in the same chosen colour.
For those more daring, you could go as far as also painting radiators, furniture and even ceilings in the same paint of choice. This trend has become very popular in modern interior design, and we expect this to continue into 2024.
Bringing a sense of nature indoors with dark, deep shades of green such as Dulux’s Highland Green and Farrow & Ball’s Beverly have proved very popular colour drenching options.
